I had read the other Wolf book, Upper Zoo, and really liked it. This novel was so fascinating that I wrote Michael Wolf right away asking if there was going to be a sequel. I fell in love with the characters, and being from New England originally, I identified with the New York setting. I love how Wolf blends the life of Orthodox practice of Judaism with the nuances of non-practicing children and Gentile friends. I especially like the trio of older men who meet at the library. I could just picture them. Wolf shows the tensions of modern life with that of both devout Jewish and evangelical Christian belief. Maybe the sequel could include some recipes mentioned in the story?

An excellent book. The story keeps you very interested in how things will turn out. The characters are truly made alive and interesting. A very well written book .
After reading The Upper Zoo, I just had to read something else by the same author. I wish he would write more. But then again, if I dined on a gourmet meal every day, it wouldn't be such a treat. The Linotype Operator is one of those gourmet meals. Enjoy!
A book for me that I could hardly put down. It was outstanding, one of the best books I've read. Even funny in places! I hope the author writes more books. It is time consuming to write a book, but there is much teaching in this book that gives us understanding of Jewish and Christian people as they show love to one another. The author's time was not wasted as this book is a blessing more than my words can tell.

I took this book with me on my vacation to Paris and there is nothing better than to watch the Eiffel Tower and to read The Linotype Operator and the beautiful love story between a young lady named Naomi and the handsome detective named Darrin Brock. It is a great book and the love story is just a part from the whole suspenseful novel. Highly recommended !!!
I absolutely loved this book! It was like The Chosen, with romance, mystery, and history added in. A wonderful glimpse into the lives of religious Jewish people, and the bonds that have kept them strong as a people through assimilation and persecution. The characters were so real, and the dialogues so well written- I found myself wishing I could meet David! This was a truly captivating read, well done, Michael! Keep writing!
