My favorite read of the year. Enough action, suspense and thrills to keep an adrenaline junkie satisfied. A hitman is hired to kill a scientist who has developed a device that would end the dominance of big oil. Once the hitman understands who has hired him and why, he takes the scientist under his protection and kicks off a rollercoaster ride of chases, double crosses and flying bullets. Would love to see this turned into a movie. A highly enjoyable book by Mr Brewer and would love to see these characters in action again!Product details

If you already love Steve Brewer's books or have never read one yet Firepower should be your next read. Fast paced with characters that grab you from the beginning, this book will keep you interested to the very end.
Brewer is a master at packing his novels with action. FIREPOWER is the latest in a long string of such books. Woven through this novel are amazing descriptions that titillate all of the reader's senses. And his subject matter is timely. This was a fast read that I couldn't put down.
Kept me on the edge of my seat, and then some, wow! Absolutely loved it, very fast paced, well written.
I just finished reading Firepower by Steve Brewer. This was a great thriller, very hard to put down, about this female scientist who invents an energy cell to replace oil based gas engines. The oil companies don't want this announced so they hire a hitman to kill her and sabotage her work. Very exciting and non-stop action. Loved it.
A very fast paced story. Very much like a Quinton Tarentino movie. I'm looking forward to reading other Steve Brewer books.

I almost missed this title, stumbling across the listing by accident. Afterwards I went to Mr. Brewer's blog at [...] to read about this title's publishing history. I've been reading his novels since p.i. Bubba Mabry made his first appearance last century. In recent years, the author has stepped away from writing novels with a series character to crime novels featuring innocent citizens caught up with appealing but incompetent criminals. In Firepower, Brewer gives readers a scientist that Big Oil wants dead, a terrifyingly competent killer and a cross-country chase from Silicon Valley to Santa Fe, NM. The reading experience reminds of Richard Stark's Parker novels. I hope Mr. Brewer's publishing experiment is a success.
